Richard Seyd Acting For Singers (ongoing)
Bobby Weinapple plus various accompanistsTuesdays 2:00-6:00pm Tuesdays 6:15-10:00pm Cost: $75 per class In this class - We will have a co-teacher/accompanist present on a regular basis to provide accompaniment, and work with people individually as needed - We will have guest artists (conductors, composers, casting directors, choreographers, etc.) come in from time to time to discuss specific skills and issues around musical performance and auditions - With scene study we will choose scenes from the musical theatre and opera repertoires - We will integrate stretch work with music performance, combining songs and duets with whatever new area you are trying to access in your stretch work - We will seek to create occasional performance opportunities for song presentation, such as the showcases we have done at Thick House this year This class is for singers of all types (opera, musical theatre, cabaret, folk, jazz, etc.), but you should have some experience and ease with working on and learning music, and I will usually ask you to provide your own pieces to work on, though I may make suggestions for other pieces as we progress. Sight-reading music is not a requirement. The class will not be focusing primarily on vocal production, breath technique, diction, etc. but rather on the acting side of performing as a singer. If you are interested in signing up or would like more information, please contact Bobby directly at (510) 234- 7575 or e-mail wapple@pacbell.net. Acting For Film (limited)

Fitzmaurice Voicework Fitzmaurice Voicework was developed by Catherine Fitzmaurice who studied and has taught at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London. Her approach combines classical voice training for the theater with adaptations of several body-based disciplines including yoga, bioenergetics, and shiatsu with the goal of improving breath management and deepening the connection between voice and spontaneous impulse. |
